Soap is a surfactant made from natural fatty acids, either from plant material like coconut oil or from rendered animal fat. Soap has one major drawback; it does not work well in hard water. When soap is used in hard water, it will leave marks or spots on the wash. ECOsmarte treats the water, softening it without adding salt. Converting the hard carbonate water to "bicarbonate" leaves your laundry mark free.
